Transport Fare Watch for August 2024 covers the following categories: bus journey within the city per drop constant route; bus journey intercity (state route) charge per person; air fare charge for specified routes single journey; journey by motorcycle (Okada) per drop; and water way passenger transport. The average fare paid by commuters for bus journeys within the city per drop decreased to 7.77% from N942.61 in July 2024 to N869.35 in August 2024.

On a year-on year basis, it declined by 34.95% from N1,336.38 in August 2023. In another category, the average fare paid by commuters for bus journey intercity per drop was N7,159.00 in August 2024, indicating an increase of 0.59% on a month-on-month basis compared to N7,117.17 in July 2024. On a year-on year basis, the fare rose by 20.97% from N5,918.18 in August 2023. In air travel, the average fare paid by air passengers for specified routes single journey was N123,700.14 in August 2024, showing an increase of 25.51% while compared to previous month (July 2024). On a year-on -year basis, the fare rose by 56.56% from N79,011.38 in August 2023.

The average transport fare paid on Okada transportation was N524.22 in August 2024 which shows an increase of 8.46% when compared with the value recorded in July 2024 (N483.33). On a year-on-year basis, the fare decreased by 18.87% when compared with August 2023 (N646.12). For water transport (waterway passenger transportation), the average fare paid in August 2024 was N1,449.34 which in dicates an increase of 3.30% on monthly basis. On a year-on-year basis, it increased by 3.03% from N1,406.74 in August 2023.
