Telecoms Data: Active Voice and Internet per State, Porting and Tariff Information (Q1 2023)

Executive Summary

The total number of active voice subscribers in Q1 2023 was 226,161,713 from the 199,558,540 reported in Q1 2022, indicating a growth rate of 13.33%. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, this grew by 1.61%. Also, in Q1 2023, the total number of active internet subscribers stood at 157,551,104 from the 145,851,496 reported in Q1 2022, showing an increase of 8.02%. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, this grew by 1.75%. On state profile analysis, Lagos state had the highest number of active voice subscribers in Q1 2023 with 26,716,136, followed by Ogun with 13,241,205 and Kano with 12,567,096.
On the other hand, Bayelsa recorded the least with 1,635,020, followed by Ebonyi and Ekiti with 1,987,485 and 2,040,920 respectively. In addition, Lagos state had the highest number of active internet subscribers in Q1 2023 with 18,778,744, followed by Ogun with 9,352,222 and Kano with 8,680,524. On the other hand, Bayelsa recorded the least with 1,147,672, followed by Ebonyi and Ekiti with 1,330,586 and 1,474,604 respectively. However, MTN had the highest share of subscriptions in Q1 2023.
