Statistics offer an essential numerical representation of realities and thus provide an important basis for evidence-based policymaking. Gender statistics is not a discrete or isolated field as it cuts across the traditional field of statistics such as Economics, Health, Education, Employment, etc. to explore the differences that exist between Women and Men in society. Such information is vital to inform policy and decision-makers and to make advances toward achieving gender equality. Numerous socio-economic issues are still being faced by Nigeria and the rest of the world. As a result, efforts should be made to produce gender-disaggregated statistics more regularly.
